Sai Yok National Park, Kanchanaburi
Major Development’s “MJD for Forest Rangers” Project led
a team of its executives and employees to grow plants, return natural balance,
preserve watershed forests, and rehabilitate natural ecosystem and provide
moral support to the forest guardians at the Sai Yok National Park,
Kanchanaburi, from 15-16 November 2019.
Dr. Suriya Poolvoralaks, Managing Director of Major Development Plc., said, “In
recognition of the pertaining environmental issues and the difficulties forest
rangers experience in performing their duty, Major Development has encouraged
employees with voluntary spirit as well as interested persons to join us in this
activity aiming at supporting forest rangers. Under this program, we support
the welfare fund and supply necessary tools and equipment that would facilitate
rangers in performing their duty. Our activity will also give moral support to
the rangers in recognition of their dedication and commitment to protect and
preserve natural forest and resources of the country.”
The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant
Conservation reported that forest area in Thailand cover 102 million rai,
representing 31 percent of the total area of the country. This vast area is
under responsibility of 20,000 rangers, meaning that one ranger has to take
care of 5,000 rai area. They have to protect such resources against
encroachment by executing the related laws, arranging environment study
activities, building strong relationship with communities, fighting against
wild fire, searching and rescuing those affected by natural disasters, and many
more tough works.
“MJD for Forest Rangers” Program involves various activities,
ranging from growing more than 300 teak woods so as to return natural balance,
preserve watershed forests, increase green area, and rehabilitate forest
eco-system in the west of Thailand, to creating salt licks for wild animals,
and donating uniforms and necessities to the Sai Yok National Park officers.
Such activities are designed to provide moral support and help rangers perform
their duty with more convenience and comfort.
